Job Summary
Assisting the Behavioral Health (BH) Director in planning, supervising and evaluating the nursing care of psychiatric patients. Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical or employment status or patients and their families. Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital. Participate in Performance improvement activities. Utilize the nursing process to oversee and provide age specific patient care. Communicate in an acceptable and easily understood manner. Develops, implements, and updates plan of care.
Essential Functions
INDLEAD

Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital. Participate in Performance improvement activities. Utilize the nursing process to oversee and provide age specific patient care. Communicate in an acceptable and easily understood manner. Develops, implements, and updates plan of care.
Essential Functions
- Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers, staff, physicians, and administration.

- Effectively problem solves, provides intervention and follows through on patient care, clinical, employee, interdepartmental and/or administrative issues .
- Cooperates well with peers and supports group/administrative decisions.
- Maintains a clear, neat and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Initiates, plans and provides for education, maintenance and competence assessment regarding patient care and clinical policies, protocols and practices.
- Consistently uses skilled communication which demonstrates congruence between words and actions and holds others accountable for doing the same.
- Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations.
- Actively engages in patient assessment, intervention and evaluation as needed.
- Effectively role models professional/ leadership behavior and provides direction, instruction and guidance in a resource capacity.
- Demonstrates creativity, intelligence and discretion in planning, organizing and coordinating department functions.
- Carefully assesses a situation, considers alternatives, and chooses the appropriate course of action.
- Completes employee evaluations accurately and thoroughly in a timely manner and assesses staff competencies on an ongoing basis.
- Demonstrates proficiency at hospital wide and/or department specific computer software and technology.
- Demonstrates fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources.
- Professionally communicates and supports the hospital's mission, vision and values, as well as departmental goals to all staff.
- Competently provides direction to staff and evaluates the level of care provided by the units' nursing staff.
- Demonstrates awareness of organizational and nursing policies, participates in their developmental and uses them as a basis for decision making.
- Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Associates Degree required
- Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program preferred
- Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program with a MSN preferred
- 2 years clinical supervisor experience required
- 0-2 years clinical management experience in the designated nursing specialty preferred
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet clients needs.
- Strong understanding of health and wellness principles
- Knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures.
- Ability to be self-directed and work independently
- Demonstrates skills in problem solving, analytical and critical thinking, prioritization, negotiation, conflict resolution, proactive decision making.
- Ability to maintain composure and respond, not react in crisis situations
- Knowledgeable about services available to patients.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- SAMA Training required
